Skill Development is the heart and soul of Steady Buckets. Workouts run 7-days of the week and are designed to improve the individual skill sets of our players. Players are encouraged to work towards consistent improvement by striving to set new personal bests, while leaving their comfort zones, working so hard they feel proud of themselves, having fun and making lasting friendships.
Workouts are designed to maximize repetitions on the game’s fundamentals (dribbling, shooting, passing, strength training, and speed and agility training) and give our players a foundation on which to build their games.
While all SB workouts are Co-Ed, our girls only workout create an environment where girls feel like a priority. To attend our girls only workouts, register for general registration (2024) and show up anytime!
All-Youth Basketball Leagues (AYBL) Registration is held seasonally as we run leagues in the fall, winter and spring (players must reregister every season to be placed on a team):
We're changing Youth Sports by solving for a better recreational experience - Our AYBL was introduced in 2018 as a solution to a national problem plaguing youth sports. Studies show that 70% of all youth participating in organized team sports quit by age 13. The overwhelming explanation was the pressures and influence of adults. Said another way, the adults took the fun out of the game. Searching for a better way, Steady Buckets began to experiment with an inclusive basketball league with divisions for beginners and advanced players, of the kids, by the kids and for the kids. Backed by studies that show the importance of near peer mentorship and testimonials of AYBL players who simply love their youth coaches, the AYBL provides the same excitement and competitive atmosphere of any youth sports league without the stress and created by adult involvement. In late 2018, former New York Knick Chris Copeland visiting SB, commented on the high quality of play before doing a double take…he hadn’t realized that the coaches and refs were all youth and that the league was running at a high level without any adult voices.
Additionally, the AYBL creates an environment for our young leaders to gain real decision making experience.
ASD Workouts provide a safe and accommodating space for players on the autism spectrum:
In 2021 Coach Macky's son Cyrus was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Cyrus's diagnosis open our eyes to a growing population of undeserved youth athletes who require a different approach to learning the game.
Our ASD program offers the same high quality skill development workouts, but in smaller groups designed for less sensory overload, to accommodate players diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. We ask ASD participations to register separately so we can manage numbers and maintain a comfortable experience.
