In order to accommodate the needs of our diverse basketball community and to simplify our schedule, SB participation is divided into a three tier system. Each tier represents a level of commitment. The goal is to make Steady Buckets easy to join, accessible and appropriately challenging for players of every level.
Tier 1 workouts include all GREEN workouts on the SB schedule as well as all Girls Only workouts, all ASD workouts, all Pre-K to 4th grade workouts and games, and all High School Workouts. Tier 1 programs run 7-days of the week and focus on individual skill development drills. Skill Development has always been the heart and soul of Steady Buckets and should be the first priority for all of our players. Workouts focus on ball handling, shooting and strength training.
Tier 1 players need only to sign up for our 2023 general registration and show up. Once registered, players can attend as much or as little as they choose without any additional registration. Registration is rolling, and players are welcome to sign up at anytime throughout the year.
Tier 1 players can expect to:
) Improve ball handling skills and other fundamental skills
) Learn how to shoot
) Get stronger and faster and learn how to out work ‘em!
) Learn how to give and receive peer to peer feedback
Tier 2 players get the opportunity to apply their skills into semi-competitive games and compete in intense pick up games. Players are required to attend the basketball IQ session immediately before the games in order to play. Basketball IQ sessions will be led by our adult coaching staff in order to prepare our players to hold each other accountable when the games begin. Our approach, prioritizes learning and fun and allows kids to take on the important roles of motivators, decision makers, role models and leadership that are traditionally given to adults.
Tier 2 players are asked to take their team commitment seriously and attend as frequently as possible so that their basketball IQ grows over time and the quality of the games consistently improves throughout the year. Registration is rolling, and players are welcome to sign up at anytime throughout the year.
Tier 2 AYBL players can expect to:
) Participate in Tier 1 skills workouts
) Expand their basketball vocabulary
) Learn basketball IQ concepts
) Learn set plays
) Compete in fun games
While all SB players are welcome to join our young leaders program, it is design for our most committed players who will consistently attend team practices on Monday and Wednesday evenings, Thursday Zoom leadership lessons, weekend tier 1 and tier 2 workouts, weekend volunteer commitments, and weekend scrimmages and competitive games through out the year.
Tier 3 players want to get the most out of Steady Buckets and are able to commit 10-15 hours per week to their roles as Young Leaders.
Attendance for weekend volunteer commitments will be tracked through mandatory leadership posts on our leadership message board. Players who don’t post regularly about their weekly leadership journeys will not be allowed to attend team practices or games. If you have any questions regarding the Young Leaders Program, please call coach Macky at 646-734-4395.
Tier 3 players can expect to:
) Learn leadership lessons and SB philosophies
) Learn basketball IQ concepts in more depth
) Teach those IQ concepts back to Tier 2 teammates
) Coach and ref games
) Become role models within the SB community
) Compete against non-SB teams in scrimmages and local tournaments
